Tirumala I Town police on Wednesday arrested a 55-year-old man for stealing gold ornaments from a woman. The incident occurred on January 10 at VQC-II, where the accused allegedly stole gold ornaments weighing 56.2 grams from the pocket of a woollen jacket worn by a woman in the darshan queue lines. The victim’s relative, an ex-serviceman, lodged a complaint regarding the same on January 12. Following an investigation, police apprehended B. Siva alias Sivaiah, a native of Tamil Nadu on January 21 in the vicinity of the TTD Asthana Mandapam Park and recovered the stolen gold ornaments besides ₹6,100 cash from him. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
