The Saidapet police have arrested a man for the murder of a 40-year-old person with disability near the Saidapet railway station on Wednesday. A senior officer of the city police said Murugan, who was disabled, had been staying on the platform outside the station for more than a decade. On Wednesday morning, residents of the locality alerted the Saidapet police station that Murugan was found dead with knife wounds on his head. Based on an investigation, the police identified the accused to be Narayanan, 45, a resident of Teynampet and a daily wage labourer. Police said Narayanan confessed to the crime. He was later produced before a judicial magistrate and sent to prison.
