Khajoornama blends food, craft, and immersive storytelling

With summer, the dining and hospitality industry sees a marked shift in its offerings: palate-heavy plates are replaced with fresh salads, coolers, and cooling ingredients. It was the latter that has been the driving force behind Khajoornama, a food-led cultural experience helmed by Chef Taiyaba Ali that centres around the date.

“My practice as a chef is rooted in the idea that you can’t separate people from food. So, Khajoornama naturally unfolded through communities. I wanted to look at how different regions in India have engaged with dates over centuries.
