Thickly populated Madurai West Assembly Constituency has serious and series of civic woes, which have been never ending, according to the residents. Residents in the constituency complained of gutter flowing on the roads, which was on the top of the grievances. There are issues over potable water quality and clearing of garbage etc in residential areas. Doak Nagar is a classic example in the urban side of the segment, while Paravai Town panchayat, Achampathu and among others in the rural pockets have problems related to open drainage. Stray dogs and cattle menace on the roads is yet another major problem faced by the motorists here.
