According to the District Forest Officer (Chittoor) G. Subburaj, the leopard had strayed into an agricultural field and fell into a farm well by accident. As the incident took place at night, it went unnoticed. The leopard, which struggled for several hours, died due to exhaustion. Over the last couple of years, the population of leopards has reportedly increased in Irala, Gangadhara Nellore, Yadamarri, Bangarupalem, and Palamaner forests under the Koundinya Wildlife Sanctuary, according to sources.
