The Tamil Nadu Cauvery Farmers’ Association has claimed that the Tamil Nadu Land Consolidation (for Special Projects) Act 2023 is being used to hand over lands in the State to corporates and business houses. Addressing the media in Thanjavur on April 20, Association general secretary P.R. Pandian alleged that the State government had started cancelling the lease agreements of farmers with the landowners such as Hindu temples/monastic institutions, Hindu Charities and “inam lands”, all governed by the State administration.
