According to a weather bulletin issued by the IMD on Thursday, a trough/wind discontinuity runs from south interior Karnataka to the Gulf of Mannar across Tamil Nadu at 0.9 km above mean sea level

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert warning of isolated heavy rains in south and parts of central Kerala on Thursday (April 30, 2026).

The alert warning of rains in the range of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm during the next 24 hours has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam.
