Vibhu A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here on Saturday (April 25, 2026) directed that adequate drinking water, ORS, and sunstroke first-aid facilities be ensured in public places, such as major markets and bus stands across the State, in the wake of heatwave alert in Kerala. The meeting was convened in the wake of the heatwave alert issued for Kerala by the India Meteorological Department. District collectors have been instructed to take necessary steps and seek the opinion of police and traffic authorities regarding reducing the duration of traffic signals wherever possible. In view of the heatwave alert, strict restrictions and prohibitions will be imposed on public programmes, selection trials, festivals during peak hours of the day, and sports programmes. Thanneer pandals (water kiosks) will be set up along roadsides, at major intersections, bus waiting points, and auto and taxi stands with the help of various agencies.
