The Kerala government has earmarked ₹95.85 crore for the Revenue department in the State Budget for 2026-27, presented by Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal in the Assembly on Thursday. The Minister said his government’s aim is to transform all 1,666 village offices in the State into “smart village offices” equipped with modern infrastructure and technology-driven services. The goal is in tune with the State’s vision to “ensure land for everyone, legal documents for every land parcel and smart delivery of all services,” Mr. Balagopal said in his Budget speech. The Budget also proposed to establish a Revenue Information Bureau aiming to disseminate information on the department’s services and activities besides monitoring public feedback. The Minister stressed the department’s crucial role in land administration, implementation of land reforms, disaster management and the delivery of citizen-centric services.
