The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has directed Sivaganga district administration to initiate disciplinary proceedings against those officials who failed to take timely action and remained passive spectators to illegal mining activities in Thoothai in Sivaganga district. The court was hearing a petition filed by Chinnamari of Sivaganga district who sought a direction to the authorities to prevent illegal sand mining activities in Thoothai in Tiruppuvanam in Sivaganga district.
