K. Selvaperunthagai (file photo) The Income Tax (IT) Department on Tuesday said that it has filed a complaint with the Chennai Police against Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president K. Selvaperunthagai for alleged dissemination of false information on April 20, that officials confined him during a search operation in Sriperumbudur. In a statement, V. Rajitha, Commissioner of Income Tax and Official Spokesperson, CBDT from New Delhi, said it has been brought to notice of the I-T Department that a post, dated April 20 was published on the social media platform ‘X’ by Mr. Selvaperunthagai, wherein he alleged that officials of the I-T Department, under the pretext of conducting a “search”, had unlawfully confined him within the constituency and prevented him from discharging his political duties and participating in election-related activities. The allegations were further reiterated by him during interactions with media the same day.
