The Karnataka High Court has said it would accept actor Ranveer Singh’s voluntary undertaking to offer prayers at the Chamundeshwari temple in Mysuru and a written apology over his “reckless” act of “mocking” the sacred daiva tradition depicted in Kantara Chapter-1, and would pass appropriate orders disposing of his plea challenging the FIR for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.

Justice M. Nagaprasanna made these observations while hearing the petition filed by Mr. Singh, who has challenged the FIR registered by the High Grounds police in Bengaluru on the direction of a metropolitan magistrate in Bengaluru. The magistrate had acted on a private complaint lodged by Prashanth Metha, a city-based advocate.
