The government has constituted a State-level committee under the chairpersonship of the Chief Secretary for effective implementation of Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules, 2026. The Supreme Court had in February this year issued directions to States for effective implementation of SWM Rules. The committee will recommend measures to the State Pollution Control Board for effective implementation of the Rules. The committee consists of the Additional Chief Secretary/Principal Secretary/Special Secretary of the Local Self Government, Environment and Revenue departments; Principal Director of LSGD; Executive Director of Suchitwa Mission; Project Director of Kerala Solid Waste Management Project (KSWMP); Executive Director of Kudumbashree; Managing Director of Clean Kerala Company Limited; Chief Engineer of LSGD; and Chairperson of the State Pollution Control Board.
