The Kerala State Commission for Minorities that held a sitting at its headquarters here on Wednesday directed officials concerned to finish the work on increasing the length of the groyne on the south side of Muthalapozhi and the remaining dredging before the monsoon. Commission chairperson A.A. Rasheed considered petitions at the sitting. The commission that had taken a suo motu case after a series of accidents at Muthalapozhi was informed by the District Collector that a dredger brought from Azhikkal port to remove sand accumulated at the harbour had sustained damage owing to strong waves. It had been decided to invite a new tender for dredging.
