Eight schools in Delhi received bomb threats via e-mail on Thursday, which were later declared a hoax, the Delhi Fire Services said. The police and fire services reached the sites as soon as they received information on Thursday morning. The school campuses were evacuated until the agencies confirmed they were free of any threats. According to the fire services, Loreto Convent at Delhi Cantonment, Don Bosco at Chittaranjan Park, Carmel Convent campuses at Anand Niketan and Dwarka had received threats. Addtionally, Kulachi Hansraj at Ashok Vihar, Doon Public School at Pashchim Vihar and Bal Bharti School at Pitampura had also received similar threats, the DFS said. Sardar Patel Vidyalaya at Lodhi Estate had also sent out a message to the parents, informing them about the security threat. As the police, fire services, bomb disposal squads and dog squads conducted searches and anti-sabotage checks across campuses, the students were evacuated until the agencies gave a confirmation that they were free from any threats. “We are relieved to inform you that the premises have been declared completely safe for use. Student safety remains our highest priority, and all necessary protocols were followed promptly and responsibly. Classes will continue as usual today,” SVP said to the parents in a message. Police stated that further investigation is underway to trace the origin of the threats. On Wednesday, the Dwarka court complex had also received a similar bomb threat which was later declared hoax.
