The ₹605 crore drinking water project being implemented for providing drinking water to 3 lakh population in 831 habitations in Radhapuram and Nanguneri Assembly segments is ready for inauguration by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin in the near future, said Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker M. Appavu.

He told this to reporters after discussing with District Collector R. Sukumar and the TWAD Board officials about the inauguration of the project by Mr. Stalin. Final touches are being given to the project. The project would benefit over 3 lakh population living in 96,000 houses in 831 habitations in Radhapuram and Nanguneri Assembly segments.

Moreover, more than 80% of the second drinking water project being executed on an outlay of ₹423.13 crore for benefiting the residents of Kalakkad municipality and Ervadi, Thirukkurunkudi, Nanguneri, Moolaikkaraipatti, Panagudi, Valliyoor and Thisaiyanvilai town panchayats had been completed. Hence, giving drinking water connection the houses would be started within a couple of weeks.

“Even as the TWAD Board officials have promised to complete the work by February-end, the Collector has instructed the officials to expedite the remaining works so as to ensure its inauguration in mid-February,” Mr. Appavu said.
