Murali Kumar From Thursday (April 16, 2026), enumerators will begin door-to-door visit in eight States and union territories seeking response to a set of 33 questions for the first phase of Population Census, 2027 — the House Listing and Housing Operations (HLO). The field operations for the HLO phase will begin from April 16 in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Goa, Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Mizoram, Odisha, and Sikkim, along with the NDMC area and Delhi Cantonment Board in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, as part of the nationwide Census exercise, following the conclusion of the 15-day self-enumeration period, a statement by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said.
