DMK president and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday (January 20, 2026) urged his party’s district secretaries not to fall prey to the “conspiracies of some functionaries of alliance parties”, who were opposed to the DMK and attempting to create confusion by expressing unnecessary views.

“Let me make this clear. I will take care of seat-sharing and the alliance [for the upcoming Assembly elections]. You must give 100 per cent commitment, as though I am contesting in all 234 Assembly constituencies. Keep in mind that we must come to power. There should be no room for intra-party squabbling. Since you hold positions of responsibility, you must learn to adjust with everyone,” he said while addressing the party’s district secretaries’ meeting at Anna Arivalayam.

Mr. Stalin said everyone was aware that the DMK was a firm and powerful opponent of the BJP government in India, and there would be conspiracies to defeat the party. “Your work and patience are very important over the next three months to defeat all conspiracies and emerge as a strong party. I depend on you, and the people of Tamil Nadu depend on us. Let us create history by winning 200 seats,” he said.

Mr. Stalin also warned that action would be taken against Ministers, district secretaries, MLAs and MPs if they failed to live up to his expectations. “Do not be under the impression that action will not be taken during election time. The party is more important than individuals. Work unitedly,” he said.

Mr Stalin told the district secretaries and party functionaries to patiently respond to the complaints of people in the field. “Do not get angry and be arrogant,” he said.

The Chief Minister said the DMK Government’s schemes had benefited over two crore people and that the government had schemes for every family without exception. “You have the responsibility of converting the beneficiaries into our voters. The Pongal celebrations and the ₹3,000 distributed by the government have made people happy,” he said.

Referring to how the mega meetings of BLA2 at the regional level during the last Lok Sabha polls had resulted in a big victory, Mr. Stalin said conferences of BLCs would be held in all four regions ahead of the Assembly election. “We have appointed one BLC for every 100 voters. Each regional conference will see the participation of one-and-a-half lakh representatives. The election is around the corner. It alone should occupy our minds, and our objective is victory,” he said.
