The Kamarajar dam, which is the main source of drinking water for Dindigul city residents and for those in Chinnalapatti and Sithayankottai areas in the district, are apprehending water shortage as the storage level in the dam was fast depleting, officials said on Saturday.

The dam receives water from the rainfall recorded in Adalur, Panrimalai, Pannaikadu, Pullaveli, Thadiyankudisai, Mangalam Kombu and Solaikaadu and among other areas in the western ghats. The waterways are formed in such a natural way that the rain water flows in the dam through the streams.
