The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday ordered issue of notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on a petition filed by Congress MLA and former Minister Vinay Kulkarni challenging a special court’s order of convicting and sentencing him to imprisonment for life for criminal conspiracy and murder of a young BJP leader, Yogeshgouda Goudar, in Dharwad in 2016. A Division Bench comprising Justice Mohammad Nawaz and Justice Venkatesh Naik T. adjourned further hearing on the petition while giving time for the CBI to file its statement of objection.
