Thodiyoor Muhammad Kunju Moulavi, General Secretary of Dakshina Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama and former chairperson of the State Haj Committee, has urged the Central government to curb the exploitation of Haj pilgrims by airlines through the implementation of a global tender process to ensure fair ticket pricing. Inaugurating a farewell ceremony in Perumpuzha organized by the Kerala Muslim Jama-ath Federation for this year’s pilgrims, he criticized the practice of charging exorbitant fares and specifically demanded an end to the additional fees imposed on those traveling via Karipur. Furthermore, the leader called for an increase in the Haj quota in proportion to the population to accommodate more believers.
