Mr. Bhaskar Reddy, who was released from the Vijayawada central prison late on Thursday evening (January 29, 2026), speaking to the media said that he had experienced a similar treatment when the TDP was in power during 2014-19, though he was an MLA then. “I was forced into a police van and beaten up mercilessly till evening, even as the vehicle moved into Tiruvallur district of the adjoining Tamil Nadu and later to Satyavedu, where I was dropped by night,” he recalled. He accused Mr. Chandrababu Naidu of misusing power to attack him several times in the past. “This liquor case is only latest in the spate of attacks against me, but I will not be cowed down by such a deliberate torture,” he said.
