Campaigning for the Assembly election ended at 6 p.m. on Tuesday (April 21, 2026), setting the stage for polling on April 23. The three-week exercise saw political parties, their functionaries, and cadre reaching out to voters across all eight Assembly constituencies despite scorching heat, with temperatures crossing 40°C. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin was among the first to hit the campaign trail in the district, canvassing support for candidates of the Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA). Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman was also among the early campaigners.
