Bihar finds itself on the cusp of a new political epoch on Tuesday when Nitish Kumar, the State’s longest-serving Chief Minister, is slated to make way for the first-ever BJP-led government in the province. Ahead of his likely resignation on April 14, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday (April 13, 2026) met senior party leaders at his official residence to discuss names of legislators from the Janata Dal (United) who could be in the new Cabinet. For the first time, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is going to have a Chief Minister in the State. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the new government on April 15 at Lok Bhawan.
