The Bengali community in Visakhapatnam marked Poila Baisakh, the Bengali New Year, with a series of events across the city on Wednesday. Under the aegis of Waltair Kalibari, celebrations commenced with a Prabhat Pheri (morning procession) along Beach Road, beginning at the Kali Mandir on RK Beach and proceeding to the Aqua Sports Complex. About 80 members participated in the early morning procession, dressed in traditional attire—women in white saris with red borders and men in kurtas, as they sang Rabindra Sangeet.
