The main official function, organised by the State government, was held at Ravindra Bharathi, where Minister for Backward Classes Welfare and Transport Ponnam Prabhakar paid tributes to the 12th-century social reformer. Addressing the gathering, he said Basaveshwara dedicated his life to building a casteless and classless society. He noted that Basava’s teachings, particularly the principle of ‘work is worship’, remain relevant in modern times, and urged people to follow his ideals.
