Former Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy has reiterated that Amaravati is a never-ending project with limited utility and would become a burden on future generations. He said YSR Congress Party chief Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Machilipatnam–Vijayawada–Guntur (MAVIGUN) proposal offers a practical alternative, and alleged that NDA leaders were criticising it despite it being a “mature suggestion”.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Mr. Rajendranath Reddy said Amaravati is steeped in corruption and runs contrary to expert opinion, which had cautioned against locating a capital in a region with low soil-bearing capacity, among other concerns.
