Environment Minister Eshwar Khandre on Tuesday (April 28) said that the Yelahanka Air Force Station, the venue for the biennial Aero India, is classified as forest land.

Delivering the keynote address at a workshop on extreme heat and its impact on Bengaluru, Mr. Khandre said, “The Air Force base in Gantiganahalli, where the international air show is held every two years, is classified as forest land. About 159 acres in Gantiganahalli village is a reserved forest area. If the Indian Air Force (IAF) submits a proposal for diversion and provides alternative land we will consider it.”
