As summer intensifies, hilly regions of Kozhikode are facing an acute shortage of drinking water, raising concern among residents. The situation is particularly severe in areas such as Thiruvambady and Koodaranji, where many natural water sources have dried up. With rising temperatures, water levels in rivers have dropped significantly, while streams and wells are fast drying up. The Iruvazhinjipuzha river has almost dried up, aggravating the crisis.

In Thiruvambady grama panchayat, where groundwater availability is already limited, drinking water scarcity has become acute in localities including Marakkattupuram, Thazhe Thiruvambady, Pambizhanjapara, Ambalappara, and Mariyapuram.
