Attempted theft on Delhi Metro Airport Express line affects services

An attempted theft of signal cables damaged the signalling system, affecting services on the Delhi Metro Airport Express Line between Dhaula Kuan and Shivaji Stadium, stated a DMRC release on Sunday morning.

Although the cables were cut during the attempted theft, the thieves could not take the cut pieces, which were found near metro pillar number 9 during inspection. The cable theft has disrupted the signalling system, and trains were restricted to a speed of 25 kmph in the affected section between Dhaula Kuan and Shivaji Stadium stations on the up line towards New Delhi,” the DMRC said in a statement.

The DMRC said that, to minimise passenger inconvenience, restoration work had been carried out over night after the end of revenue service.
