Thrust on sound rather than colour makes fireworks displays risky

Although organisers have recently attempted to focus on colour-emitting fireworks, high-decibel explosive displays continue to be more popular at festival venues across central Kerala.

Despite curbs imposed by the government in recent years, especially after the Puttingal fireworks tragedy in 2016, high-octane fireworks remain a major attraction for fireworks fans at festivals across the region.
