File | Photo Credit: PTI The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday (April 22, 2026) said it had taken “serious note” of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “terrorist” and issued a “stern” notice to him. Mr. Kharge has to respond to the notice within 24 hours, ECI sources said. The ECI move comes after a delegation of senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders met the commission earlier in the day regarding its complaint seeking action against Mr. Kharge for his “terrorist” remark against Mr. Modi.
