The Labour Department and Department of Industrial Safety and Health have joined hands to ensure voting rights of workers in the several hundreds of industrial establishments in Tiruppur district. Election day, April 23, being a public holiday, the Department of Labour has instructed the industrial and commercial establishments to enforce ‘paid leave’ for the workers. Officials of the two departments have formed a WhatsApp group for sharing of information and carrying out coordinated action. Complaints received at the Control Rooms about denial of leaves are being attended to instantly. The Control Room is operated by the Department at two locations: Tiruppur and Dharapuram.
