Students in Class 2 at various government schools in the State have shown improvement in Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), critical for their learning capabilities, according to the annual survey conducted by State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).

The FLN Assessment 2025-26, conducted on February 25, 26 and 27, covered 8,500 students of Class 2 in 1,750 government and local body schools in all 33 districts, was released on Tuesday. The survey was technically supported by Central Square Foundation, a New Delhi-based agency, and employs Early Grade Reading Assessment – Early Grade Mathematics (EGRA-EGMA), a one-on-one assessment standard.
