Tamizhaga Vivasayigal Pathugappu Sangam (Tamil Nadu Farmers Protection Association) has charged the DMK government of unfulfilled poll promises. At a press conference here on Saturday, Esan Murugasamy, the association’s founder, said of the 83 poll promises for farmers, only 10 have been fulfilled so far. He also alleged that the DMK-led government had established five SIPCOT industrial estates in the Cauvery delta region that was declared a Protected Special Agriculture Zone. Though the State government had announced ₹4,000 as minimum support price for sugarcane per tonne, farmers were not provided as promised.
