The State Budget has earmarked ₹185.8 crore for strengthening the police force through schemes aimed at automating police functions, improving crime detection efficiency, boosting cybercrime investigations and upgrading infrastructure. The Budget has also set aside ₹47 crore for the modernisation of prisons. The funds will be used to establish new jails to ease overcrowding, upgrade existing facilities with modern surveillance systems, and continue renovation and prisoner welfare programmes.
