Police warn vehicle owners on underage driving

The Puducherry Police have warned of stern action against owners of two-wheelers and four-wheelers for allowing their vehicle to be driven by people below the age of 18 in the Union Territory.

In a bid to curb the menace of underage driving in Puducherry, the territorial police have launched a special drive recently. During vehicle checks to enforce traffic rules in the last few days, 112 instances of underage driving were reported. Action was initiated against the violators under section 199 A of the Motor Vehicles Act, Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic, D. Divya has said.
