George on Thursday (January 29, 2026) dismissed rumours of his resignation, which had surfaced following allegations of interference in his Department by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son Yathindra, an MLC. The Chief Minister also clarified that Mr. George had not resigned. The clarification was later reiterated by the Minister himself on the floor of the Legislative Assembly. Seeking clarification in the House after media reports on the issue, BJP member V. Sunil Kumar raised the matter, to which Mr. George responded that he continued to enjoy the confidence of the Chief Minister and had not stepped down from his post. It was alleged that Mr. Yathindra had interfered in the functioning of the Energy Department, following which Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh issued a notice to Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Managing Director of the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL). Reports suggested that Mr. George was upset over the issuance of the notice and had conveyed his displeasure to the Chief Minister. However, Mr. George later clarified that Mr. Yathindra had not interfered in the functioning of his department.
