The ₹300-crore library, named Periyar Arivulagam, at Gandhipuram in Coimbatore city is in the final stage, with civil works completed and finishing works under way. Being developed by the Public Works Department (PWD) on 6.98 acres that earlier belonged to the Central Prison, the structure has a built-up area of 1.98 lakh sq. ft., covering ground plus seven floors.
