Frontline staff of the Forest Department are monitoring an elephant calf that was found stranded at Lingapuram, near Sirumugai, in Coimbatore district on Saturday (April 25, 2026) and later approached a herd. District Forest Officer N. Vengatesh Prabhu said the calf followed a herd after it returned to the forest. Though a male in the herd was seen chasing the calf away, it continued to follow the herd, he said.
