The Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) approved a greenfield investment by Websol Renewable Private Limited (WRPL) for setting up a fully integrated 8 GW solar manufacturing facility (4 GW solar cells + 4 GW solar modules) in the Naidupeta multi-purpose special economic zone in Tirupati district with a total investment of ₹3,538 crore.

The project will be developed in two phases over 120 acres, with commercial production scheduled between July 2027 and July 2028, according to an official release.

The government has also allotted 300 acres to the company for setting up a captive solar power plant, enabling it to run its manufacturing facility on renewable, self-generated power.

With this project, Naidupeta and the southern Tamil Nadu industrial corridor will emerge as one of India’s most important solar manufacturing hubs, with Premier Energies, Tata Power and Voltsun also establishing large-scale solar manufacturing units in the region.

Commenting on the project, Websol Energy Systems Limited CMD Sohan Lal Agarwal said the GoAP’s clearance allows Websol to make a meaningful contribution to the State’s growth with its expansion plans.

The supportive industrial ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh provides a strong manufacturing platform for executing the project and the company’s growth strategy.

IT & HRD Minister Nara Lokesh said the Websol project was yet another strong endorsement of Andhra Pradesh’s position as India’s most competitive destination for clean-energy manufacturing.
