PRTU-AP Teachers stage a dharna. File | Photo Credit: Kommuri Srinivas Hundreds of teachers affiliated with the Progressive Recognised Teachers’ Union (PRTU-A.P) staged a protest at the GVMC Gandhi Statue here on Tuesday (April 21, 2026), seeking resolution of their pending demands. Addressing the protesters, PRTU Visakhapatnam district president M. Srinivasa Rao said the teachers’ problems had remained unresolved two years after the coalition government came to power. He sought the immediate constitution of a Pay Revision Commission (PRC) and the announcement of a 30% interim relief. He also demanded exemption from the Teachers Eligibility Test for in-service teachers.
