District Women and Child Welfare Officer D. Venkateswari on Friday directed village-level child protection committees to intensify efforts to eliminate child labour and safeguard children’s rights.

Addressing a district-level workshop for officials of the ICDS, Police and Education Departments at the Collectorate, she stressed the need for close inter-departmental coordination to tackle issues affecting children. She said awareness campaigns should focus on Mission Vatsalya and key legislations such as the Right to Education Act, 2009, Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, and Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.
