Civil Supplies and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has requested the Union Government to take steps to reallocate five lakh metric tonne of boiled rice target for Rabi 2024-25 by reducing the raw rice target set by the Food Corporation of India. He reminded the State’s request for a 60-day extension of the deadline for procurement citing the previous deadline of February 28 which had expired. The Minister addressed a letter to Union Food Minister Pralhad Joshi about the mismatch between the State’s booming paddy production and the Centre’s shrinking procurement allocations.
