The Union government has sanctioned ₹64 crore for various national highway development projects in Dakshina Kannada, said Member of Parliament Captain Brijesh Chowta said on Friday. Giving details of the fund allocation, he said the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has sanctioned ₹34.53 crore for the maintenance works of about 20 km of stretch of the NH-73 from B.C. Road to Punjalakatte. In addition, the stretch from B.C. Road Junction to Sri Narayana Guru Mandir on the same highway leading towards Bantwal is currently pending for widening. In all, ₹22.59 crore has been allocated for the development of this stretch as a four-lane highway.
