Raging media speculation that leadership hopefuls in the Congress are lobbying hard for rank-and-file support and the party high command’s favour ahead of the Assembly election results on May 4 appears to be fuelling a slow-burning discontent among United Democratic Front (UDF) allies. The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), the second-largest constituent in the UDF, seemed particularly miffed that Congress workers are already lining up behind their preferred candidates on social media and in the physical world.
