Two men were arrested on Sunday for allegedly assaulting a TNSTC bus driver at the Vedaranayam bus stand in Nagapattinam district. The victim, Kamal Haasan, 30, of Katharipulam – Koyilkuthagai, is a temporary driver attached to the Vedaranayam branch of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation. According to the police, the accident occurred on Saturday when Mr. Kamal Haasan parked the bus at the Vedaranayam bus stand and was checking air pressure in the wheels. At that time, two men riding a two-wheeler allegedly picked a quarrel with him. During the altercation, the two allegedly sprayed pepper spray into the driver’s eyes and fled the spot. The injured driver was admitted to the Vedaranayam Government Hospital for treatment. Based on a complaint, the Vedaranayam police have registered a case and arrested Vasu alias Veerasekaran, 31, of Ayakkaranpulam, Kamarajar Nagar, and Arun, 28, of Nagathoppu in Vedaranayam.
