A tribesman died in an attack by an elephant at Koppanari near Anaikatti in Coimbatore district on Tuesday. Rangan and his wife Rangi were collecting firewood separately at a location when an elephant attacked him, according to Forest Department sources. Rangi, who heard shouts for help from her husband, reportedly found him dead by the time she reached the spot. A Forest Department team from Periyanaickenpalayam Range Office retrieved Rangan’s body.
