The Disaster Management Department on Wednesday evening issued a standard operating procedure (SoP) for the collection of DNA samples, dental records and the burial of bodies in connection with the fireworks accident in Thrissur district. The guidelines outline detailed procedures to be followed in the case involving unidentified bodies, bodies that have been identified but not claimed, disputed identifications, and situations where only body parts have been recovered. The SoP is meant for implementation by the District Disaster Management Authority (Thrissur), the Police and Health Department, and the concerned grama panchayats and municipalities.
