The second edition of the Thrissur Cultural Capital Marathon was held at the Thrissur Corporation Stadium on Sunday, drawing nearly 3,000 participants.

The full marathon in the 32-kilometre category began at 3.30 a.m. District Collector Arjun Pandian flagged off the race and also took part, completing the run in 4 hours and 19 minutes.

The 21-kilometre half marathon, which commenced at 4.30 a.m., was flagged off by Perumbavoor Assistant Superintendent of Police Hardik Meena, who also joined the race. The 10-kilometre category, held at 5.30 a.m., was flagged off jointly by representatives of Kerala Gramin Bank and Elite Group.

The 5-kilometre run began at 6.30 a.m. and was flagged off by Thrissur City Police Commissioner Nakul Rajendra Deshmukh and Thrissur Corporation Mayor Dr. Niji Justin, both of whom also participated in the marathon.

A wheelchair run organised with the theme ‘Back to Track’ saw participation of around 50 people.

A concluding ceremony held after the races was attended by Revenue Minister K. Rajan, Ms. Justin, Mr. Pandian, Mr. Deshmukh, along with representatives of Kerala Gramin Bank and Elite Foods.
